Kenefick Park – Omaha Nebraska

Kenefick Park in Omaha, Nebraska, is a must-stop landmark for railfans and history buffs alike, perched dramatically above Union Pacific’s sprawling mainline near the Missouri River. The park’s stars are two massive steam locomotives—Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4023 and Challenger No. 3977—displayed nose-to-nose as if frozen mid-conversation about who pulled the heavier train. Set against an active rail corridor where modern freight traffic rumbles past daily, the park creates a living contrast between railroading’s muscle-bound steam era and today’s diesel-powered giants. It’s compact, scenic, and unapologetically loud at times, which feels perfectly appropriate—after all, subtlety was never a Union Pacific design goal.

This is a video with most content stolen from myself from my USA Midwest 2023 Day 8 video that I am working on and as of this post, have not uploaded yet. I think it is legal to steal from yourself LOL.
